170 Garrison Road, Dover, NH

This Farm was owned by Sam Arnold up into the 1990's all of the barns and the building in the middle of the driveway are gone. the Townsends purchased the property from Sam and took down the old barn as it was in disrepair and un-savable. They replaced it with two separate barns and built a new house over the existing house. The original house was balloon frame construction. This property was also the location of the Damm Garrison that was moved to the Woodman Museum in the early 1900's.

Hi Will,
Thank you for all the great history you have shared about this area! Do you live or did you grow up in this area?

Alexis,
Yes I live in and grew up in the area. The cemetery on the back of the original property is also the location of the grave of James Nute Who was killed in 1691 by Native Americans.
