A portion of the motel (Colonial Motor Inn) seen in the back was demolished, and a new hotel ( Courtyard by Marriott) has been built.

The sign on the left is for what was then known as Sugarman's Plaza. At the time the image was taken, it housed a Sugarman's (formerly Star), a Great American (formerly Victory), and a bank. Later, the shopping center was enlarged and an Applebee's was also built in the plaza. It is now known as Campus Plaza and the two main anchors are Olum's and Staples.
