This was my Grandparents house. Jim Tickle and Lula Martin Turner Tickle. Unfortunately the house is gone but some of the out buildings and the barn are still there.

Pam was this an active farm? How long was it in your family? If you know the current address for this photo, I would be happy to update the location on the map!

Nathan, yes this was a working farm and the photo doesn't convey the whole property. There was a large field farther back with a pond at one corner. Grandaddy raised tobacco. The building to the far left was the pack barn. I remember sitting in the barn with Dad and him showing me how to hand tie tobacco. I was maybe 7 or 8 years old at the time. I don't know what year the house was built. My Dad was born in 1919 and he grew up in this house. Grand Dad passed in 1972 I believe and the house went to his daughter. My Grandmother moved across the street beside my parents house, into a mobile home where she lived until she had a stroke and then moved in with my parents. There are only a few of the buildings left standing. The house was torn down years ago and someone put a modular home there. I stood in the doorway of my parents house with my Dad and we watched as it was being bulldozed. Sad day. The modular is no longer there now, just the 3 buildings in the middle of the pic remain and the garage that was on the other end of the house. I don't know the address but I live across the street at 2491-B Durham St. Ext. The road in front is Durham St. Ext. and the dirt road running left and right is now paved and is called McArthur Lane. Sadly all of Grandad's property was eventually sold after all my Aunts and Uncles passed. There is a housing development on the large parcel that was the tobacco field. I was only 4 years old when this pic was taken! I hope this was helpful and thanks for giving me a part of my history to look at!

Pic number 12 in this roll is my parents house across the street and our original homeplace was a log cabin to the left of pic number 12. The cabin still remains and my oldest daughter lives there.
