This is the Lucy Pierce Bell farmhouse which I have purchased and continued the restoration begun by previous owners. It was originally built in 1873 as a chestnut wood log cabin, which is still in great shape! Expansion continued until the second story and kitchen wing were completed prior to 1900. The Pierce family lived there until it passed out of family hands around the 1980's, when Lucy Pierce Bell moved into West Jefferson. Since then, the shed and all other out buildings have been torn down; the hill behind the house is woods, a house has been built at the bottom of the picture on the hill, the the field on the left is all now tree covered.
