The barn and house are gone; the property changed hands in 1995. The new owner is me, William David Bethea. A Quonset hut style building 95x 37has been added to right of barn, now gone. A nitrogen storage tank has been added to right of 4 grain bins; 4 larger (3500 bushel) grain bins have been added where house stood.
I bought this farm from the James R. McKenzie estate (auction) in 1995. I believe Mr McKenzieâs father, William, purchased It around 1905 from George Hall Graham descendents, I think maybe in 5 pieces of around 200 acres each. There is a cemetery in the rear of the property with mostly Graham graves, but some others also: Brewer, Wright and Calhoun.
William thank you for all the interesting history about this photo. What type of farm is this?
We grow a little bit of everything; anything that will make a buck! Cotton, corn, soybeans, hay, cattle, and we sell feed to locals for cattle and hogs. Next year, 200 acres of peanuts. This farm is my retirement project, and I love it, most times, lol.
