Home of Robert and Vera Bradsher and Family. I think this is just after the home was moved from it’s original location at (new) Buffaloe Rd/Capital Blvd (Ashton Square) and being renovated.
Demolished 2010
LOL! I see "Big Man" trying to hide behind a tree! Before Robert Bradsher purchased him, he stood tall on top of the Giant Decorator Store on Downtown Blvd (near downtown Raleigh and now called Capital Blvd), holding a big paint brush and big can of paint. Possibly after this pic, he displayed him at the roadside originally holding a giant bushel basket advertising his vegetable pic-your-own business. Raleigh City sign regulations prohibited the large sign. Afterwards Big Man, without any sign and with no problem with the City, stayed by the roadside to greet those passing by. Big Man became a well known local landmark for those traveling Louisburg Road. After the farm was sold for development, Robert Bradsher moved Big Man to his relocated business on Overlook Drive, off Gresham Lake Road to greet patrons there.
