This is Fairfield, a home renovated by my parents, Donahue and Dalen Bottoms. At this time my daddy had died four years earlier. My mother was living here happily but alone. The lawn is manicured. She still flies the three flags in the front yard. My daddy's shop is silent and serves only to keep the car out of the weather. The ninety year old roof is showing its age and needs frequent attention. Maintenance costs are escalating. More trees have been lost to storms. Family get togethers are frequent and memorable. Every Christmas we gather on the front porch for photographs--some new faces, some missing faces.
