Zimmerman farm located along Honey Creek just outside Christiansburg. View is from the southwest looking toward northeast. The white truck in the barn belonged to Ralph Zimmerman, Fire Chief of Christiansburg Community Volunteer Fire Co.
This property was also the birthplace of Sgt. Major Marion A. Ross, Co. K, 2nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry, who, during the Civil War, joined the famous "Andrews Raiders," stealing a confederate train at Big Shanty (Kenesaw) Georgia. Ross was the 7th recipient of the Medal of Honor, and the first to be awarded the medal posthumously.
