Miller's Ferry Dock at the Catawba Island point, the end of SR 53. This ferry goes to Put-In-Bay

Catawba Point, Miller ferry boat to South Bass Island. This was an annual event every August. So many good memories of this point that transported my family and best friend to an island get away in the 1960’s!

Yeah, me too. I have stood in line here many a time. I loved the roar of the boat engines when they came about to back into the slip. Back in the 1960s and early 70s you could still take your car across and return the same day. Later I found it made more sense to rent the golf carts which were more fun anyway.

One time we rented a room at the airport motel. Early in the morning the Ford Trimotor fired to life and swung around right outside the window. There was no air conditioning in the rooms so the prop wash blew everything around through the open windows.
