The former Big Bend School on Belden Dr. Built in 1921 and closed in 1954. Converted to a house today. The entry is still visible and a "Big Bend" stone sign is in the yard. I also found a Prince Hall Temple listed on the west side of Belden Dr in 1988 in this location.
This building was purchased in 1995 by Ernie Porco the owner of Chef Ernies restaurant. He converted it into a residence and lived there up to 7 years ago where relatives purchased it and still reside there to this day. Prior to Ernie purchasing the property the Christian Temple that is across the street from the building used it as a church. It was also a Masonic Lodge for a short period of time. There was also a residence that was constructed to the left of the building that Ernies mother in law resided in for a short period of time. Claymont High School is now at the rear of the building in what was farm fields.
