This is the Maslek Farm, purchased in 1924 by Gligorya Maslek and Jelica Manojlovic Maslek, Serbian immigrants who emigrated to Ambridge in the early 1900's. The farm was located along Racoon Creek between Cowpath Rd and Bocktown Rd (rt 151) in Independence Township near Hopewell/Aliquippa. The Maslek family owned the farm until the 1970's. In 1993, Beaver County obtained the land to create the Independence Marsh, an 18-acre mitigation project to replace wetlands lost in the Pittsburgh International Airport expansion. Although most of the buildings were torn down, many lobbied unsuccessfully for the preservation of the farm's corn crib (mid/large storage building seen in the middle right of the photo) - because of its unique style and history. In 2020, the only remaining building is the spring house, a small white bldg seen in the middle left of the photo, to the right of the large barn.
