This house was built in the early 1940's by Pete and Charlotte Maslek. Located at the entrance of the Maslek Farm (now Independence Marsh) in Independence Township, the property straddled Cowpath Rd. In this photo, the lower fork in the road was a private path leading to the Maslek family farm and the upper fork is Cowpath Rd, leading up a large hill to Ridge Rd. Many years ago, when cars were rare on Cowpath Rd, this hill was a favorite winter sledding spot. The garage can be seen in the photo, directly across from the house, with one side open. Along the right side of the garage is a fence that enclosed dozens of beautiful peacocks. The house was demolished in 2019, however, the garage and small barn were still intact in 2020. The property is now part of the Beaver County Independence Marsh.
