My great-grandparents purchased this property from a milk farmer, in the 1920's. They named the place Roughshod Farm. In 1942 their daughter's finance was returning from the war so to make room, they had a wing attached to the main 1800's era house that added an apartment, library, tap room, sunroom/breezeway and three garages. After their passing, two of their three children remained there with their collection of horses that my mother enjoyed riding. The house went out of the family after the death of my great-aunt's husband. It had deteriorated quite a bit and worried that it and it's 7 acres would be collected by the nearby country club, I bought the house in 1999 through my great uncle's estate and restored it back to it's original state, along with major electrical replacement, adding hvac and new power plant, windows, roof and a more modernized but farmhouse-appropriate kitchen. I moved away in 2014, selling the farm to a wonderful couple who have 3 grown children and grandchildren to enjoy the rambling farmhouse and land. What a joy to see these vintage photographs of Roughshod Farm. I remember the place in the views that you offer here.
