It was a beautiful brick barn. No longer exists. Located: 41.237768, -80.405175
Huge wooden barn. The buildings in from were a diary store at one time. SE corner of Rt. 62 (E. State) and Darby Rd.
Mapped. This land was once part of the Stewart farm (house on north side of Rt. 18 and to the west.) The land was sold by Delores Stewart. A McDowell built this barn and he had Ayrshire cattle. The McDowells lived in the smaller building. The building closest to Rt 62 and Darby Rd was their dairy store. Barn appears in 1955 aerials. I don't know what year it was built. It was razed sometime in the late '90s as I recall. It was a landmark for decades. This intersection is called Filers Corners on old maps. Maybe Filers had the house on south side of Rt 62 about halfway between Darby and Neshannock Roads.
