Wow! This was my family homestead. My grandfather (Arlington B. Moyer) and grandmother (Hazel Belles Moyer) lived in that house. They were actually some of the first settlers in Long Pond. It is the house where my father (Larry Moyer) was raised. And my son is now the 4th generation to live in the area. Sadly, the barn (in which I, my sisters and "neighborhood" kids used to play) is gone. The smaller building (the grainery) is also gone. All the trees you see in the photo were once part of the Moyer Christmas Tree Farm (all those smaller ones planted as well). My grandparents had a small general store (up until the 1970s) in the front room of the house, where they sold "penny candy", baskets of potatoes, cans of Mobil oil, and glass Pepsi and A-Treat soda bottles kept cold in the old refrigerator in the store. They also sold gas way back "in the day". The old gas pump is also now gone.
