This farm is located on Tarkiln Road approximately 1 mile west of Fertigs. The farm was originally owned by my Great grandparents David H. And Mary Morrison and was one of the premier dairy farms in the area. The farm was in the family until 1985 when my parents retired and sold it. Sadly since that time the dairy barn on the North side of the road was removed and most likely the lumber and timbers were repurposed. The cement stave silo on the south side of the road was removed by an Amish work crew. The milking parlor and milk house attached to the large barn on the south side of the road were repurposed into a residence by one of the owners. The large barn itself was completely resided and the roof replaced for use as a business for awhile. I believe that business is no longer viable. The large elm trees visible in the picture succumbed to Dutch Elm disease. The house has undergone some extensive remodeling but still stands as a testament to the remarkable building skills of the older generations. It was a wonderful home to grow up and learn the value of hard work and responsibility. Those traits have followed me throughout my life.
