This is George's Station Road in Greensburg. The tracks of the Pennsylvania Railroad are on the left. I believe that white house is still there.
This was Peter George’s House. Son of Adam George who fought in the Revolutionary War under direct command of George Washington. Another son, Conrad Samuel George was of Hannah’s town fort when it was attacked and burned to the ground by Indians and British soldiers. On the left of the tracks seen in this photograph was and orchard and family cemetery. Noth far from this site was also a blockhouse known as George’s Station. Adam George originally own 360 acres in this area.
You can also see this farm in the 1966 rolls, #54-DWE-34 and 54-DWE-35.
Mr. George, thank you for the most excellent history lesson. Do you Know what year the house was built ? Anything remain of the family cemetery ?
