Remains of Douglas C-54 N8060C, which crashed at this site a few hundred yards southwest of Old Charleston Road on the morning on Nov. 19, 1979. The plane was on approach to a nearby sod strip to unload 15,000 pounds of marijuana, but was too low and struck trees on final approach, destroying the aircraft and killing the crew. Most of the wreckage was hauled away not long after the accident but some parts, including a main landing gear assembly (with wheel) and some parts of the wings, remain here. In current (2021) satellite views, the site is grown over with forest and the remaining pieces of the aircraft appear to have been hauled off.

I pinned the location, I remember seeing the wreckage when I was a teen.
