Former home of my g.g. Grandfather.

This looks like the plantation home of John Kincaid, III, who lived here for about 15 years - 1850 to 1865. His father lived in Fincastle, Campbell County, TN, and built this home for "Little John" when he became an adult, early 1850's. The home was built beside what was originally the Yoakum Station site, which was built about 1795 by George Yoakum. The land had been acquired by the Moss family and John Kincaid, II, married the widow Moss when her husband died and acquired the land. John Kincaid was a confederate officer, and fought down in Georgia; and he left Powell Valley after the Civil War ended, and moved to Vernon County, MO. He was wanted in Tennessee for war crimes in Claiborne and Union County committed at the end of the war. He became a very successful farmer in Missouri.
