Photo 6-WLW-18

Comments

George and Wilma Morrison, my paternal grandparents, bought this farm in 1949. The house burned in 1952 and George rebuilt the 3 bedroom pink asbestos siding home in this photo. The silver leaf maple trees that surrounded the yard throughout my childhood had recently been cut due to blight. The well house is too the left of the driveway and two out buildings are obscured by the remaining trees on the right side of the image. All of the out buildings and barn across the road were destroyed in an F5 tornado in 1998... the little house survived to protect Wilma who was taking cover in an interior bedroom. There was to much damage to repair and the house was raized. Wilma celebrated her 100th birthday on November 16, 2021 and still owned her farm.
