Photo 1-BAR-2

This was Stobbs' Grocery - built and owned by my grandfather CD (Curtis Dave) Stobbs and his wife Connie Stobbs. The bottom of the first floor was a small grocery store, with a room in the back for locals to drink their beers (with little salt shakers to sprinkle on the top of the cans.) Upstairs was their home, and the big part in the back was a 4-5 car garage used as CD's woodshop. He was a longtime carpenter, who built many houses and worked on the Matagorda Island air base during WW2.
