The house in the center was built and owned by the US Govt, Dept. of Justice, I&NS to rent to USBP Agents, INS Inspectors, or US Customs inspectors. In 1991 it was unoccupied. In 1992 or 1993 the Patrol Agent In Charge of the Fort Hancock Border Patrol Station (at lower right of photo) occupied it for a couple of years. As the Station staffing grew,(in '91 there were 9 agents), the building and grounds were used for extra parking and administrative space. The old Station here has since been closed, with a new one built adjacent to the Port of Entry. I was a Border Patrol Agent stationed at Fort Hancock from 1990 to 1997.
