The Finnegan Farm. Built & operated since 1865 until bulk tanks became mandantory in the 1960s. The barn was lifted in order to move the cows to stantions below. The barn was built with perfect feng shui facing East and at every solstice the sun rises behind the peak of the barn’s roof. The ‘fiddler’s elbow’ section of Rte 100 was straightened at the end of the 1940s with a deal w/John Finnegan to move the road to the other side of the barn & creation of ‘Finnegan Road’ from Rte 100 to the house... and the town plows the road. We also have one of the few, if not the only, stand-alone milk house. In 2000, we (Steven L Mason & Patricia M Sears) bought the farmstead from Jeanne Finnegan to steward it into the 21st century. Barn is solid and is occasionally repurposed for special events, including a wedding, and #BarnPitch (2014, -15, -16, -17, -18) when small businesses pitched for investment from VT business leaders. Onward with Cheers
