The original owner was Alfred Knabel from Austria, who bought the land in 1858. The stone house was built somewhere around 1860. Leonard and Evelyn Breunig farmed here from early 1940s until approx 1971. Then the Rosa family, followed by Jim & Betsy Carlson until we purchased the property in 1998. The hillside behind the house is now forest. The barn and most outbuildings came down over the past 25 yrs.
