The poor lonely WILMOT GRADE SCHOOL. Larger now in 2016 and no longer a school. Kenosha County Fair buildings in the background. This is on the west side of CTH W in Wilmot TOwn of Salem Kenosha County WI
and the WILMOT SPEEDWAY
The gymnasium that isn’t pictured was built in 1979-80. The addition also included a library, kindergarten room on the upper level and 4 classrooms along with 2 bathrooms on the lower level. There was both an elevator and stairwell added as well. Once all that was done a lower level parking lot was added to the east side facing the Fox River. The detached unit shown in the picture on the right was later sold to Trevor Grade School in order to make room for the expansion. The section of old pavement on the far right was later used as an extra basketball court, but the hoops were taken down sometime in the late 90’s or so. Notice how the flagpole is positioned in the middle of the parking lot. In about 1992-1993 that was backed into by a garbage truck and was moved to the upper southeast corner of the school out of harm’s way. The playground was also updated several times over the years. I believe the school closed for good in around 2007.
