The "family farm". My paternal grandfather, August Strand, purchased the farm circa 1940. My father, Leif Strand, purchased the farm from his widowed mother in 1960.The place was sold in about 1990 when my parents moved to Jefferson City, Missouri.

The small house in the lower right, and the trailer, are now long gone. The new owners have added on to the house, including a very nice porch. The trees planted in the upper left (behind the trailer) were yews (left) and blue spruce(right). The spruce were largely later transplanted around the yard. The yews, by the mid-'70s had grown to a height of nearly 15 feet. My brother bill (died in 1999) thinned out the undergrowth and created a very attractive copse. The new owners removed it.

Correction: My brother Bill cleaned out the yews in the mid-'80s.
