This was originally a Naval Air Station at Hitchcock, Texas, used for blimps. By the time I moved to Hitchcock in 1970, only the four columns remained and the property was owned by John Mecom, Jr and was used for his oil business. The building shown here was built after Hurricane Carla destroyed the old hangar that was about 1000 feet long, covering 7.5 ACRES. The anchor columns are still visible from FM 2004.

This is the headquarters at the old horse racetrack between Hitchcock and Alta Loma that was once owned by oilman, John Mecom. Several of my friends worked there as exercise jockeys and grooms.

This is Henckel Supply Co at 8219 Wallace Rd and it's behind the old Sigmor gas station, which later became Sinclair and is now called Road Way at 8227 Highway 6 in Hitchcock, Texas, 77563. I washed my truck at the carwash to the left of Sigmor many times but this is earlier than when I moved there in 1970. I'll need to do some research on this one.
