House is at intersection of Hwy. C (Wilmot Road) and 98th Street. The house was built and occupied by the Cass family (originally from New Hampshire) in 1860s.

I currently live in this house. It was built in the 1880s (most likely by the Cass family) and was originally associated with the buildings across the street (Hwy C/Wilmot Road). The farm property across the street from the house (to the South)is now a tree farm. The road at the top of the photo (going behind the house) is 98th Street. The large barn and large rounded top building remain. The silos and the smaller buildings are gone. The large barn is still standing, but Mother Nature is chipping away at it. The fantastic Burr Oak tree (visible just in front of the house) is still there and healthy. The smaller out buildings on the house side have been removed. In 1999/2000, a breezeway and garage building were added to the West side of the house.

James Ozanne and his family came to America from the Isle of Guernsey in June 1842. He bought 326 acres on land in July 1842, located in Somers Township, Kenosha County, later dividing a portion of this land between his sons, James and Peter. The Ozanne family were well respected settlers of Somers. I believe this is the property bordering the South side of Hawthorne Hollow on Green Bay Road. It probably still has the address of 914 Green Bay Road, Somers. It was referred to as the Ozanne Homestead and listed as a nature preserve until fairly recent. It is now owned by Hyslop Foundation Inc. which is affiliated with Hawthorn Hollow. If this is the same location, the overhead view indicates these buildings no longer exist.

This is the Northwest corner of the intersection of 12th Street (aka Hwy E or Somers Road) and 88th Avenue (aka Hwy H). I lived across the street (Northeast corner) in the 1980s. The land directly North of it now belongs to Shoreland Lutheran High School for athletic fields.
