Klaas (Nick) was married in Chicago in 1899, and worked in the Pullman plant until 1908, when they moved to Wichert, IL. They had four children; Agnes and Cornelius, who were born in Chicago. Twins, Marion and Margaret, were born in Wichert.
Of course, this is great grandpa and grandma's house! They used to keep chickens in the back shed. I know Grandpa loved music, so when I was in 4th - 8th grade band at Wichert School, I used to walk home and drop in to play a hymn or two on my clarinet, thinking I was entertaining grandpa. This house was tiny but cozy. Grandpa Cornelia's house was just corn rows away to the east and a bit south.
