Land purchased by Andrew Cook in 1839, the farmland consisting of 380 acres. Andrew was from Stamford, VT and built the brick house in 1850 now known as the Andrew C. Cook House, currently owned by the Wauconda Towship School Dsitrict and maintained by Wauconda Twp. and the Wauconda Twp. Historical Society.

The house is located on Main Street, formerly known as Rand Road and then the original Route 12 in 1928, before it bypassed Wauconda in the early 1950s. In the 1940s, there would be the lines of cars heading north as people traveled from the city of Chicago to their summer cottages and then Sunday afternoons as people headed back home.

There were a number of owners through the decades. In 1937, the property was purchased by Donald DeWolfe and leased to Ronald Paddock who ran a dairy farm until 1947 before moving to the Darrel Rd. farm near Volo. In 1977, The Wauconda School District purchased the property. In 1992, the Illinois Historic Society designated the house as a historical site.

Currently, the Wauconda Library is located to the right of the Cook house. To the left (outside the photo) is the Wauconda Township High School.
