Long Pine Orchards - 35288 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee; view is looking SW. The farmhouse was built in 1907 and is still there and so is the silo, but the barn is gone. Orchard Valley Dr. is visible on the upper left.

In 1963, the Lone Pine Orchards was owned by Edwin Smith. The orchard consisted of 3,000 trees that grew McIntoch, Jonathan, Red Delicious and Golden Delicious apples. The property was bordered between Hunt Club Rd. to the west and N. Cemetery Rd. to the east, and located south of Grand Ave. (Rte. 132). The property is now the Orchard Valley Subdivision with homes being built from the late 1960's and mostly into the 1970's.
