School House. Was on Rt 45 just north of 173.
That area was known as pikeville I believe. Was this the schoolhouse that was moved and is now the restaurant little red schoolhouse?
I remember an old school house on 45 south of Edwards road on the west side. A house was built here behind this and this was torn down. Pedersen Dr. and subdivision should be across the street from this. 45 and 173 was Hickory Corners I believe. Was this the Hickory School? 45 and the stateline is considered Pikeville.
Hickory school was on the southwest corner of 45 and 173 I think. There were three different schools built because it burned down twice by vandals. Sperings Castle was on the southeast corner, and hickory church i think on the northeast corner. Newport Township Historical society has a memory quilt from this church from the 1880s.
Actually if you look on google maps, this may be the old west newport school house which is now a residence owned by the Shea family. On west side of Crawford Rd. north of 173 a ways. The Achen family donated the land to build a school and was known first as Achen school, and later as the little red school house and later west newport school. I think this is the second schoolhouse built on the site.
42258 Crawford Rd, Antioch, looking to the NW.
