This farm is close to the old Mchenry Walmart that's now U-haul storage and next to Meijer, Home Depot. West of Route 31 on McCullom lake Road.
Leo and Mae King Farm, King's City View Farm
The house has just recently been torn down and the barn still remains located northwest of Richmond Rd. (Rte. 31). The King's City View Farm was a dairy farm on 120 acres. Part of the farm is now Meijer and Home Depot stores. Leo J. King (1912-1987) and Mae P. (Stilling) King (1917-2003) started farming here in 1944 when they purchased the Raymond Colby farm on which the Arnold Davis family had been living there.
In 1842, Page Colby arrived from Danville, VT and purchased 80 acres of land in McHenry which eventually grew to 700 acres. In 1872, Page Colby (1820-1905) owned the property in Section 23, 26 and 27 of McHenry Township and the 1908 plat map indicates George Wallace Colby (1850-1936) owned 140 acres.
