This was Silver Creek School, located where the U.S. 20 business route joins the bypass. The school operated in District 112 before the district was annexed to Freeport District 145, in the final years of its existence as a school. In April 1959, voters approved the sale of the school. The first attempt to sell the property occurred on July 17, 1959, when Michael Murzyn successfully bid $2,200 for the school. Apparently this sale did not close, as the Freeport Journal-Standard reported that the property had been sold at auction to Lawrence Patterson for $1,000 on October 22, 1960.
