This is the site of the old Millerburg School. The school operated through the 1958-59 school year, after which students attended Freeport District 145 schools. Millerburg had already joined District 145 beginning with the 1956-57 school year, when its enrollment was 16 students (Freeport Journal-Standard, 9/6/1956). Following its final year of operation, the building was sold at auction to Winter Realty for $2,600 on July 18, 1959.

The school building was donated to the Stephenson County Historical Society museum by Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Cordes and was moved to the museum grounds in December 1972. Eby Construction Company of Rockford performed the move, which was delayed by bad weather and numerous low-hanging utility wires. A photo of the building being towed down Pearl City Road was published in the December 5, 1972 edition of the Freeport Journal-Standard newspaper.
