This was Fairview School on the northwest corner of the Route 73/Fischer intersection. This was one of two Stephenson County rural schoolhouses with the Fairview name, the other located just north of Freeport at the Route 26/Fairview Road intersection. Real estate records indicate the school was constructed in 1935, which would have replaced an existing school building at this location. In January 1954, the Freeport Journal-Standard reported that the Lena-Winslow school board had voted to close the school at the end of the 1953-54 school year (Journal-Standard 1/23/1954). At the time, the school included only 7th and 8th graders.
The school was sold at auction on June 1, 1957 to Anson and Irene Hale of Winslow for $3,150. A photo of the original Fairview School as it was in 1918 is archived on the Lena-Winslow school district website:

These photos originated from a 1918-19 Stephenson County school directory. It contained photos of each school, along with the names of teachers and school board members.
