This was North Afolkey school, sometimes also referred to as Mount Pleasant (not to be confused with the other Mount Pleasant west of Orangeville, next to the Mount Pleasant cemetery). The school became part of the Orangeville school district. With the wave of country school consolidation in the 1950s, the school had been unused during the 1952-53 school year. The building was sold at auction on May 23, 1953. The property was described in the May 20, 1953 edition of the Freeport Journal-Standard as having not one, but TWO outside toilets, swings and a slippery slide for the kids, a piano for entertaining, and a flag pole to display patriotism.
Like many country schoolhouses, North Afolkey was repurposed into a residence, still in existence today.
