This is the August Hoffman farm just west of Mackinaw, Illinois. My great-grandfather bought the farm in 1885 for $5,118.65 from the Richard Sparks estate. My grandparents, August and Frances Hoffman, bought the farm from his father's estate in 1938 and moved back to Mackinaw from Prescott, Kansas, that year with their children. The farm is still owned and farmed by a Hoffman grandson today.
