This was originally Droit's Store which gave the town Droit City it's name, my Grandfather Reno Droit built the store out of native white oak next to the edgewood cutoff tracks and his wife would make and sell sandwiches to the railroad and mine workers, Reno Droit sponsored the local little league team and was a champion fiddle player who put on regular concerts with the Droit family band, consisting of Reno, his father Oliver, his sister, brother Alfred, and son (my dad) Sherman. By the time this photo was taken it had been bought and turned into a junk depot by Dale Smiley who would finally sell it, the new owners have cleaned the property up but little progress to restoring the 100 year old building has been made. A Prime Candidate for a Historical Plaque if the owners would just pursue it.

The house across the street was mr Malone's and the house next to the store was my Grandpa Reno's
