The style of the home - seen from the street (this is the back view) - suggests a build date of around 1880. Historic atlases indicate that this was the farm of Jonathan L Newman (1820-1892) Maria Phillips Newman (1826-1896) and then their daughter Julia Newman Shields (1864-1937) and her husband William Harrison Shields (1858-1938).
