This was the main house of the Rockwood Tuberculosis Sanitarium that existed a short amount of time from 1907-1913. The house used to be part of a much larger property that included administrative buildings and patient cottages. The main house still stands today and is a private residence. The rest of the sanitarium grounds have been developed into residential properties.
