Late one Saturday night,January 5th 2013, the temperatures outside hovered around freezing. Within minutes,the calm cool air was awakened by a raging inferno cutting through the building. 22 separate fire departments called in with over 100 dedicated firemen to battle the blaze. Often feeling like they were fighting a losing battle, the water supply in Clarks Hill started running dangerously low. Additional supply had to be rushed in from other municipalities. The flames could be seen from Lafayette to Frankfort and burned for several days.
