This is the farm I grew up on. There are soooo many memories here. My great, great uncle bought this farm and sent for my great grandpa to come from Germmany and join him farming. They also had horses. My grandpa, August Schwerdtfeger bought out his brothers and grandma and he lived here. My dad was born in the kitchen. He later lived here and farmed the land. He also milked cows. The "old" barn had some straw in the hay mow and mom had some chickens on the first floor. HOw I hated those chickens. It was my job to gather eggs and those old hens pecked me. Then I had to wash the eggs before we sold them. Yuck!!!
The old barn was buried after dad died and a tornado took the whole farm with the exception of the hog house floor.
