I think this is the farmhouse I rented from 1970-79. It was 5 miles north of Tipton, Iowa. The address is now King Ave, but was a RR when we lived there. 3/4 mile down the road is the Red Oak Church which is still there. This house was built in 1858 and owned by the original family, named Safley. They built a log cabin on the site in 1838 and the house 20 years later. All family members are buried in the Red Oak Cemetery. The owner had the home burned in 1989. It was one of the first homes built in Cedar County and beautiful. I loved living there.
I lived in the neighborhood and went to the Red Oak Church. The front porch looks different and the last time I was on the road, I think all of the buildings are gone. I had friends that lived there so was in the house many times. (I hope to go "home" Sat. when they put wreaths for the veterans) on the graves)
