1721 150th Ave., Lake Park, IA...this farm is located in Section 14, NE 1/4 Excelsior Twp.
My grandparents farm! Glenn & Bessie Goodell moved to this farm in 1925 with 3 of their children & built the hog house (behind the barn in photo) which they lived in while the house was being built! They raised 9 children in this home.The children all attended and graduated from Excelsior School. Grandpa died here in October 1962. Later Bessie moved into Lake Park & her son Clayton & Eloise Goodell family moved to this farm. Currently Steve Goodell & his wife Kathy, own the farm.
So many memories of this happy place. My grandparents always had a huge garden & grew many flowers, & fruit trees. Memories of Sunday dinners with so many people & Grandma always had enough food for whoever showed up!
In the Spring of 2000 the DNR did a burn on adjacent land on a very windy day & the Goodell barn caught fire & burned to the ground. The house remains.
