Gay and Vi Sheeder farm originally owned by Oscar and Clara Sheeder until the mid 1940's when Oscar and Clara moved to a smaller farm closer to Guthrie Center. His son Gay and his new bride Vi moved on to the home place and had 3 children(Randy, Rick, Terry). The original farm was 365 acres, one for every day of the year! Part of the original farm was what is now known as Sheeder Prairie! Oscar and Gay, would make hay off of the virgin prairie, and would sell it to people with race horses over in Des Moines. The farm was sold in the early 70's and looks nothing like this now. the only original building on the farm is the house, and it has been changed as well. What I would give to have the homestead back in my family again...
