This was Conrad American on the left and now Hawkeye Steel. Owned at that time by Leonard Conrad, a farmer/entrepreneur who manufactured and built steel bins for grain storage. On the right was a storage/distribution center for lubricants by Bentler or Jet Oil(?). Now owned by the Kruse Bros and used for vehicle restoration/storage. In the background, and across the road, is the house and barn on an 80 acre farm of my grandparents, Steve and Anna Peitz. That homestead was razed in the 90's and a new house was built there by Ferdinand Stuekerjuergen who had purchased the farm. Ferdinand is a German citizen and related to my grandmother Anna Stuekerjuergen Peitz. In the far right lower corner and on the other side of the road now stands a plastics manufacturing plant built by Ferdinand, who lives in Germany.
