Photo 33-SMA-33

This farmstead was occupied by the Fortunes, Kenneth Dawson (Chick) and Willard Dennison family. I spent my childhood in that barn. The farmhouse is obscured by trees but is still like it was in the 50s. The red barn is currently being torn down. The outbuildings along the road and the larger one to the south (right) still exist. Chick raised all forms of livestock (hogs, chickens, cattle & horses. This photograph appears to be from the 70s or 80s. I know this because the house across the street is missing. I lived across from the red barn in the 50s. My father grew up there. The red barn could be seen all the way from the west side of town near the railroad tracks as you look down Church Street. It will truly be missed.
