My aunt and uncle built and ran this diner, motel, everything on this piece of land near Humeston, IA. I use to think it WAS Humeston when I was little. Their children all worked at something while living here. A tornado wiped most of it out. My Uncle Earl and Aunt Olive Nickell have since passed, and one daughter. The youngest now runs the Nodyroc Motel in Corydon, IA.

So many great memories here. It was so busy with trucks before I35 was built. It was an honor to wash dishes, clean rooms, pump gas and wash windshields at grandpa and grandmas. Learned work ethic and compassion.

What great memories . Nicks was the place to go after a date or for a good home cooked meal. The nickles were our neighbors for many years and great friends. I rem;ember when Earl came and talked to my dad about leaving the farm and starting this new adventure , Dad was pretty sure he had lost his mind, Oh how wrong he was. I wish we had a place like this in the county now

Fond memotes of working at Nicks and of Olive and Earl. Was great to have a resturant close to home. We lived about 2 miles from there

My mom and sisters all worked there. We rented our farmhouse from Earl and Olive. They were great people.

This was a wonderful place to go!!!! I miss it so much today. Always so much fun to get to eat out there & go to the drive in. Always a welcome spot for the kids to go before or after the movies or just to hang out. We were never rushed out of there, unless someone started fighting or got too rowdy. Earl & Olive were wonderful people to be around!!! Boy oh boy, if we could do it all over again today!!!!!

Every Sunday we ate at Nicks after church !! Great memories with my Grandpa Bob and Grandma Margaret !
