Lawrence Beckwith farm 1A Fort Fairfield.

This was my paternal grandparents' home into the late 80s. I spend many summers and weekends with my grandmother at this home. My grandfather, Lawrence, died of a heart attack on when I was about 7 (maybe '69) A lot has changed. The chicken coop behind the barn was gone before 1970, the potato house and machine shed collapsed in 80s. I am not sure when the barn was torn down, but it was gone when I visited the new owners just 3 years ago.

I don't see the pond in this photo - it would be just beyond the little well house and should have been there 51 years ago. Are you sure this photo is not older than 51 years?

The home was built by my great grandfather - Lawrence's father. Lawrence married Delia Gilley (my grandmother), and they both lived here until their deaths. Delia died in 1988. Lawrence was a potato and sugar beet farmer - he and Delia owned many acres along with two additional homes that they rented out - one you can see behind the trees in the lower right of this photo. The other was a few miles south on the same road.

This is the farm that my uncle (Lawrence)and his wife (Delia) owned on route 1 Houlton road. Lawrence was the brother to my mother (Hazel Beckwith) she married my dad George McBurnie. Lawrence & Delia son (Gibert and daughter Caroline). The picture is his farm I'm almost certain.
